Dance!

This was the last assignment in our traditional animation class. It was a class collaboration where each character comes in, dances, and exits out. (Perhaps I will post the compiled version someday)

tutu was simplified in order to preserve some sanity

some shape exploration

More exploration and some dance possibilities

Pantomime

Finally an update! a few month short of a year late, but at least it'll be out there for the world to see and out of my way. Watching it again it seems so ... bad, but I will count it as a blessing that I've at least learned to see my work with a fresh eye.

And here's the character sheet (The better part if you ask me)

Additionally, here are some sketches meant to help me out.

PS: do you know any better ways to set up posts? This editor is getting on my last nerve...

1.6.11

throw it to who?

A traditional dialogue test using a clip from the famous skit "Who's on first." Feel free to ask me to recite it for you when you see me. I used a lot of reference of phil from "Hercules" to understand what the face should look like with the mouth open, and to help me push things a little more (one of my greatest weaknesses). I owe my first (and hopefully last) all-nighter to this project.

Ted & Cecil

Ok, another animation, this time using the computer. Here are some character sketches (I don't know why Ted is watching TV like that...) I thought these two characters would be good buddies, you know, the traditional tall and short pair. I would have liked to have given them a crocheted and canvas texture respectively, but I didn't know how yet.

A tool

Hey all!
I've been working on cleaning up files and have a long list of project work to post. I will get to that very soon, I promise. Meanwhile, I've completed something I've been wanting to make for myself for a very long time. Most of us have at one time owned one of those wooden manikin to help use draw. Unfortunately, very soon you're ready to try a more dynamic pose, but the manikin is not... They have a very limited range of motion, especially without rubber bands or something extra to help them. I tried being my own model, and I think it's a pain in the butt. Unless you have someone to help you (for a while) you can't tell if you're even completely in the picture. Anyway, with concept classes, I often struggled with drawing a character in a certain pose from a certain angle, which made me want to do this even more.

Long story short, I had modeled a simple manikin a few years ago, recently rigged it and now it's ready for use. I really want to put this on the internet for anyone to use (especially peers), but only if it seems useful to anyone else. Let me know if you would like a copy of the scene.
In the meanwhile, here are some examples:

OBJECTION!!!

You don't even know how many times I've tried to draw this pose so it doesn't look flat. I needed help.

Over the top running with pushed perspective. This would help in an animatic right? yes it would.
As always, I welcome ideas for improvements. I'm not sure how much I can fix without having to re-rig, but I'm already thinking of putting something on the front of the face and moving the hip joints higher...

Other things I've been doing have been watching MLP:Friendship is magic, modeling, messing around with mudbox, making to do lists, trying to draw, thinking of story ideas, etc. Ok, now that I've bored you to tears I am satisfied. Go and be something.

22.5.11

These updates are gonna be all funky and out of order, but at least something right?

14.5.11

Ohh...

Yikes! I better update soon! no, seriously.
I'm gonna keep making updates like this and then no one will visit my blog again because I only talk about how I need to update. :C

7.3.11

Animatics

This update shall contain last semester's animatics. You will probably have to wait another lifetime to see the stuff for this semester.

They are in chronological order

I'll update later with drawing, and then again with animations, both traditional and computer.

Another Account

Aha! Now I can sign in with just my ringling account and not have to bother signing in and out of different google accounts. However, it seems that if I delete the other account I will lose links to all the images I've posted?? NOOOOUUUUU!!
On another note, I still haven't posted any more work, from this OR last semester. This seems to be a recurring pattern with me... I'll try harder to post... really I will...

20.10.10

Gah!

I haven't posted a single anything since the semester began. I HAVE been working though! Really! Whenever we get a long enough break for me to remember that this exists I will post work. You can look forward to my first work in maya, a traditionally animated pantomime, some character sheets and possibly some animatics.
